My 8 Go-To Cheap and Easy Ways to Elevate your Outfits (Fall 2020 Edition)

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I love everything about fall: the weather, the smells, the colors and of course, fall fashion. I thought I’d share some of my favorites ways to elevate your fall outfits to look your best this fall without spending thousands of dollars!

Flannels and blazers

Adding oversized flannels to outfits help to make them more interesting and fit the fall vibe. Try to choose darker colored flannels to match autumn’s colors. Here is a fall few looks that are elevated with a flannel:

Fall colored blazers are a great addition to outfits, especially if you want a more dressed up vibe. Try adding funky blazers of colors to your outfit, it adds a fun touch to your style. I love wearing wool blazers to mimic the classic Channel blazers, which gives a classy touch to your outfit. On the other hand, I love to wear a funky colored blazer with a neutral outfit to make it more attractive. Here are a few blazer looks to give you an idea on how to style them:

Layering

This is not only great for people who live in cold places, but it’s also a great easy styling tip. My favorite layering outfits consist of wearing any oversize sweatshirt over either shirt or a turtleneck. Layering creates dept to your outfit and adds interesting details to it. Gold jewelry

If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to elevate any outfit, jewelry is always the answer. Personally, I feel like gold jewelry goes better with fall colors. Wear bracelets, rings, earrings and necklaces to make you look more put together, when in reality, it only took you an extra minute to get ready. Layering your necklaces is super trendy and looks amazing with fall outfits. I like to wear multiple gold rings of different sizes on both hands. I find it adds interesting details and nicely compliments most outfits. As for earrings, I like to wear smaller earrings for work and daily outfits as they don’t get in the way when I wear headphones. I usually go for larger hoops for evenings out or dinners (when allowed by the pandemic). Here are examples of jewelry arrangements and how they look with an outfit:

Oversized Everything

When it gets cold outside, all we want is hide ourselves in comfortable and cozy clothes. Add oversized pieces to your outfits to stay warm and enhance your style! You can wear an oversized sweatshirt or style it by tying it around your shoulders or across your upper body. As for bottoms, wearing oversized jeans is very in this season! Also, adding an oversized jacket gives a great fall vibe to an otherwise basic outfit. The following pictures demonstrate how oversized pieces are perfect for fall and ideas on how to style them:

Leather pieces

Leather is usually a go-to for fall and this year is no exception. Don’t limit yourself to the typical leather pants, wear anything in leather: blazers, skirts, shorts, etc. Don’t be scared to try out different leather colors; you don’t have to stick to the typical black or brown. I find they look amazing with fall colors and give an edgy vibe to your look! Also, please get faux leather – I’m sorry to break it to you, but animal lives matter more than your style. Coats (Trench, jeans, leather)

If you live in a colder place, you know you won’t get away without wearing a coat. Why not choose a coat that compliments your outfit to make it look even better? Depending on where you are going and what vibe you’re going for with your outfit, you’ll be able to find a coat that fits. I suggest owning the 3 basics: a trench coat, a jean and a leather jacket. Looking for a classier vibe? Go with a trench coat. Looking for an edgy vibe? Wear an oversized leather jackets (I think they look so good on top of hoodies). Going to apple picking or for a coffee run? Add a jeans jacket to your outfit. Invest in those 3 timeless coats and you’ll be set for all your future fall looks. Shoulder length bags

These bags were trendy this summer and they transitioned perfectly in the fall. They give a fun 90s vibe to outfits and make you look good in any situations. You don’t have to break the bank and get the popular Prada one; any shoulder length bag will do the trick (Pay a visit to the thrift store!). If you’re really into the style of the Prada one, there are some great dupes out there. Here’s how shoulder length bags can elevate your outfit:
